AI VOICE AGENT BUILD

AI Voice Agent Build, Wired Into Your Own Stack

Your demo agent books the test call, then a real caller asks for Thursday at 2 and the booking never lands in your calendar. The cost is the calls that come in after hours, and it lands on service businesses and agencies putting a voice agent in front of customers. Rodgers Intelligence Group, based in Denver and working remotely across the United States, builds one AI voice agent for that call and hands it over in writing. It runs on VAPI, Retell or Twilio and writes back to the calendar and CRM you already use. Mike Rodgers leads every build.

What it costs when it slips

It answers the call. Then the booking fails, the transfer drops, and nobody can say why.

  1. A demo agent is easy. The gap to a line real customers can call is telephony, tool calls and write-back, the parts nobody demos.
  2. A2P 10DLC registration, number ports, SIP trunks and per-minute telephony bills stall more launches than prompts do.
  3. When the agent invents a price or drops a hand-off, you hear it from the customer, because nobody is reading the transcripts.

What changes

The jobs it runs, ranked by what the checklist can prove

Take the booking call

The same call at 9am as at 9pm: greeting, qualification, booking and hand-off run as written on the telephony you chose. The checklist runs this job first: the booking lands.

Hand off what is not its call

Anything outside the facts and tools you gave it goes to a person by the rules you approved. The checklist runs this job second: the hand-off fires.

Write the record back

Calendar booking and CRM write-back are part of the build, not a phase two. The checklist runs this job third: the record saves where your team already works.

File the transcript

Every call is recorded with a transcript and a log entry, so a failure is a line you can read instead of a story. The checklist runs this job fourth: the transcript is there.

Hand over the whole thing

Prompts, tool definitions and call flows are documented and handed to you, so you can maintain it or hand it to another engineer. Mike Rodgers owns every line of the checklist.

What buyers pay today

The line item you already have.

What buyers pay to get a voice agent built today: on Upwork, "Twilio sms chat bot" carries a fixed $7,500.00 budget (posted 2 days before the capture), "Retell + N8N + AI Agent + LLM Integration Engineer" runs $70.00-$100.00 an hour (posted last month before the capture), and "VAPI Voice Agent - Detailed Construction" runs $25.00-$75.00 an hour (posted 3 weeks before the capture); all three rows were captured in upwork-summary.tsv on 2026-09-27. Hourly work runs on the meter, and the meter has no end date written into it. Work out the cost of the calls your line cannot take: calls per week times the jobs those calls were worth. Telephony and platform usage are billed by your providers on top of any build fee.

The offer

The Voice Agent Build

  • The Call Plan. Outcome: the call that matters is written down before anything is built. Accepted when you sign the plan: the greeting, what the agent may ask, the booking rules and the hand-off rules.
  • The Agent Build. Outcome: one call runs end to end with nobody retyping anything. Accepted when the agent runs the Call Plan on real call scenarios, from greeting to hand-off.
  • The Stack Wiring. Outcome: the booking lands in your calendar and the record saves in your CRM. Accepted when a test call writes to both of them on telephony in accounts you own.
  • The Written Rulebook. Outcome: correct is defined before go-live, and the checklist is yours to keep. Accepted when every line of the checklist passes on real call scenarios, and a line that fails keeps the build open until it passes.
  • The Handover Pack. Outcome: you own and run it. Accepted when the prompts, the tool definitions and the call flows sit in accounts you own with a note of where every credential lives.
  • A named person. Outcome: a failed line has an owner. Accepted when Mike Rodgers signs each acceptance line before the build is called done.
  • One spine, named for the call it runs on. The Booking Line Build for a home services shop (missed call to booked visit), the Recall Call Build for a dental practice (recall call to booked appointment), the Intake Call Build for a law firm (first call to intake), the Client Call Build for an agency (client call to ticket). Outcome: the plan reads like your business and not a template. Accepted when the call plan uses your trade's own words, and the components above do not change, only the call name does.
  • Out of scope in writing: we do not run your phone bill, we do not replace your systems, and we do not promise call outcomes, booked jobs or answer rates.

Quoted before work. This offer is quote-only. The One-Workflow Review is $3,500 fixed fee, with a written readout within ten business days after required access.

One build fee, quoted in writing for the agreed call and stack before work starts. You run the agent in accounts you own, and telephony and platform usage are billed by your providers at their rates.

No lock-in. The handover pack puts the prompts, the settings and the call log into accounts you own. You approve the call plan before it answers a live call. If a checklist line fails at acceptance, the build is not called finished until it passes, and the checklist is kept by you.

How it works

Three steps, one owner.

01

Send the call you want handled

One call scenario, the stack it must touch (telephony, calendar, CRM) and the rules for hand-off. You get back a build outline and a quote. No call needed to start. If one workflow needs mapping first, the One-Workflow Review is the paid first step.

02

We build it and run the checklist

The agent is built on VAPI or Retell and tested on real call scenarios before go-live: the booking lands, the hand-off fires, the write-back saves and the transcript is recorded.

03

It goes live, and the transcripts show what it did

Real calls run the flow you approved. The transcript and the log record every booking, every hand-off and every failure.

See it work

A worked demonstration.

Sample call from a demonstration agent, not a client system. Caller: can I book a site visit for Thursday? Agent: I have Thursday at 2pm open; may I have the address and a contact number? Caller: do you charge for estimates? Agent: I do not set fees, so I am handing that question to the team along with your booking.

Demonstration, not a client result

Straight answers

What this does and does not promise.

What does a voice agent build cost?
The build is quoted as a fixed fee in writing before work starts, for the agreed call and stack. This offer is quote-only. For comparison, the freelance marketplaces price this work by the hour or by the project: one Upwork post carries a fixed $7,500.00 budget, one runs $70.00 to $100.00 an hour and one runs $25.00 to $75.00 an hour (rows captured in upwork-summary.tsv on 2026-09-27). Telephony and platform usage are billed separately by your providers at their published rates. If you want one workflow mapped first, the One-Workflow Review is $3,500 fixed fee, with a written readout within ten business days after required access. The readout is yours to use with any vendor or internally. It is not credited against the build price. A build is quoted on its own after it, from the call flow the readout names first.
How long does a build take?
We agree the date at scope and write it into the quote before work starts. A build starts only after you approve the scope in writing. If one workflow needs mapping first, the One-Workflow Review produces a written readout within ten business days after required access.
What is included in a build?
A build covers one call flow and the systems that call must touch: telephony in accounts you own, your calendar and your CRM. It does not cover replacing your systems or training your staff. It does not include telephony minutes or platform usage, which your providers bill at their own rates.
What happens when the agent gets something wrong on a call?
It hands the call off by the rules you approved and logs it with a transcript. It answers only from the facts and tools you give it, so anything outside that goes to a person. The checklist runs on real call scenarios before go-live, so a failure shows up as a line you can read instead of a story from a caller.
Where do the recordings and transcripts live?
In accounts you own. Every call is recorded with a transcript and a log entry in the accounts the build runs in, and both stay with you.
Which platform should we build on?
The agent runs on VAPI or Retell, and telephony runs through your Twilio or equivalent account. Pick what your stack already uses or what you want to own. This is build work on accounts you own, not a vendor partnership: the accounts and the numbers stay in your name.
What about SMS?
Where the flow includes texting, A2P 10DLC registration is part of the build. SMS runs in accounts you own. The message and call transcripts stay with you.
