AI CUSTOMER SERVICE, CHAT + VOICE

AI Customer Service for Your Website: Chat That Answers, Voice That Picks Up

Every small business with a website hears the same questions all day, and at 11:40pm a buyer with one question on your pricing page has nobody to ask. By day it costs your team minutes. At night it costs you the question. Answer Desk answers the questions you already know and hands new ones to your team, with every question logged.

What it costs when it slips

11:40pm. One question on your pricing page, and nobody to ask.

  1. The question is simple and you have answered it before. By day it costs your team minutes. By night it costs you the question.
  2. This happens at any small business with a website: the same questions all day, and at night the ones nobody sends, you never see.
  3. A clinic hears 'do you take my insurance'. A contractor hears 'do you service my area'. A shop hears 'where is my order'.

What changes

What changes on your site

Answers at any hour

The same answer at 11pm as at noon, on chat and on the phone, taken from your own pages and documents.

No guessed answers, no lost questions

The two failures it prevents: a made-up answer, and a question that goes unanswered and unseen. The checklist and the log catch both.

The questions you cannot see today

The question log lists every question asked and flags the ones with no answer yet. That list is what you fix next.

One voice on chat and on the phone

Chat and calls read from the same answer set, so a visitor gets the same answer whichever way they ask.

What buyers pay today

The line item you already have.

What businesses pay to cover this today: Ruby $250 to $1,725 a month, metered by minutes (ruby.com/plans-and-pricing, read 2026-09-24). Smith.ai $300 to $2,100 a month, metered by calls (smith.ai/pricing/receptionists, read 2026-09-24). A Denver receptionist earns $18.81 to $25.99 an hour (Indeed, 2026-09-24), which is $3,254 to $4,496 a month at 173 hours before benefits (18.81 × 173 = 3,254 and 25.99 × 173 = 4,496). Your own cost of answering by hand: questions per week × minutes per question × what an hour of your team costs.

The offer

Answer Desk

  • Job one: the known questions answered from your own content on chat and on the phone, the same way every time.
  • Job two: the unknown questions handed to your team, each one written down.
  • Job three: the question log, with every question asked and every unanswered one flagged, timestamped.
  • One Answer Desk spine with a configuration per trade: Clinic (insurance and hours), Contractor (service area and fees), Firm (intake and timelines), Shop (orders and returns).
  • A written acceptance checklist, run on your content before go-live and kept by you.

$3,000 setup, then $500 a month

Setup is a one-time build fee. Go-live is scheduled after the acceptance checklist passes on your content.

Month to month, cancel with 30 days notice in writing. If a checklist item fails, Mike Rodgers fixes it and re-runs it before the next billing cycle, and the miss is written into the log you keep. You own the content, the transcripts, and the question log.

How it works

Three steps, one owner.

01

Send your ten most-asked questions

You send the questions your team answers most and the pages you answer from. You get back a sample answer for each one. No call needed to start.

02

We build it and run the checklist

Answer Desk is built from your content and tested on four counts before go-live: known questions answer correctly, unknown questions reach your team, the log timestamps both, and chat and phone give one answer.

03

It goes live, and the log shows what it did

Chat and phone answer from your content. Everything they cannot answer goes to your team, and the log records every question with a timestamp.

See it work

A worked demonstration.

Sample chat from a demonstration site, not a client system. Visitor: do you service my area? Answer Desk: yes, we cover the Denver metro, and the booking page checks your zip code before you schedule. Visitor: can you waive the trip fee? Answer Desk: I do not set fees, so I have passed your question to the team.

Demonstration, not a client result

Checkable facts

What you can verify yourself.

  1. Ruby publishes plans at $250, $720 and $1,725 a month that meter minutes (ruby.com/plans-and-pricing, read 2026-09-24).
  2. Smith.ai publishes plans at $300, $810 and $2,100 a month that meter calls (smith.ai/pricing/receptionists, read 2026-09-24).
  3. Google Keyword Planner shows top-of-page bids of $33.28 to $995.08 for the search 'ai customer service' in the United States (2026-09-24).

Straight answers

What this does and does not promise.

What does it cost?
$3,000 to set up, then $500 a month. Setup builds the chat, the voice line, the hand-off and the question log on your content. If you want one workflow mapped first, the One-Workflow Review is a separate $3,500 fixed fee with a readout within ten business days after required access. The readout is yours to use with any vendor or internally, and it is not credited against the build price; the build is quoted on its own.
What happens when it cannot answer a question?
It hands the question to your team instead of guessing. The system answers only from your own content, so anything outside it is collected with the question written down and sent to you.
How is this different from an answering service?
An answering service puts people on your phone and meters their minutes, and this answers chat and calls from your own content for a flat monthly fee. Ruby meters minutes at $250 to $1,725 a month and Smith.ai meters calls at $300 to $2,100 a month (both published 2026-09-24).
Who owns it, and what happens if we stop?
You own the content, the transcripts and the question log. It runs month to month and you can cancel with 30 days notice. The log and the answer set are yours to take with you.
